Ferrari's Daytona SP3 was recently revealed as the company’s latest entry into the highly-exclusive Icona model series. It's named in reference to the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona that Ferrari took a 1-2-3 finish in, and it has an 829 hp V12 engine. YouTube supercar spy Varryx has been very lucky to capture the first footage of a Daytona SP3 driving on the roads near Maranello, wrapped up in its camouflage.

First Public Spot Of The New Daytona SP3

Varryx’s video captures the sight and sounds of the new car undergoing testing in Italy. Sadly for Varryx, the car is in the secretive camouflage that we have all become used to in recent years on prototype cars. But we can still get a good look at the overall shape and design of it.

The distinctive lines of the rear end can are visible through that camouflage, as can the twin exhaust setup that’s in the middle of that back end. It's advantageous that we’ve already seen the car in the flesh, without the wrap around camouflage.

This video also provides us with our first chance to hear its V12 engine in action. The 829 hp V12 is a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated affair. It's the first road-going Ferrari to feature a mid-mounted 12-cylinder engine since the final LaFerrari back in 2018.

The Daytona SP3 is, as of this moment in time, the most powerful non-electrified model that the prancing horse has yet produced. The car doesn’t rev particularly loud in the video, but we do get to hear its throaty roar as it drives past, as well as a couple of downshifts.

Varryx also states that this is the first public sight of the car on public roads in its final form. It marks a bit of a change from early sightings of the company’s upcoming SUV, the Purosangue. This car has usually been visible with either with GTC4Lusso or Maserati Levante bodies.

The car drives past the camera of Varryx just once before disappearing, making it an all too fleeting glimpse of perhaps one of the most exciting Ferrari’s of recent years. It's certainly left us wanting more, and hopefully we get to see it without its camouflage very son.
