Ford Motor Company has manufactured some of the most legendary vehicles made in the US. From the Model T to the F-Series, Ford has released a large number of amazing vehicles over the decades. Its most emblematic car, the Mustang, went through several facelifts. In the most recent decades, the Mustang retrieved the racey and muscular features it lost back in the 1970s.

The fifth-generation Mustang is far from a disappointment. Though some Ford Mustang owners have ruined their cars with ugly modifications, several amateur and professional tuners have turned the fifth-gen Mustang into something that will take your breath away.

10 Maier Racing

From the mid-1970s onward, Mustangs became quite unattractive. With the exception of the Foxbody Mustang, most Mustangs were neither good-looking nor powerful. However, the fifth generation Mustang killed this streak of lukewarm pony cars. When looking at this Mustang, people can easily understand why.

Created in 1969, Maier Racing is a highly underrated tuner. The company creates some truly astonishing suspension kits and fiberglass parts that give the Mustang the extra sportiness it needs. This insanely modded Mustang sure should be among the craziest modified Mustangs gearheads have ever seen.

9 Saleen

Every time a Mustang is released, especially in the most recent decades, gearheads with a genuine need for speed are anxious to see the latest packages created by tuners such as Roush or Saleen. The 2010 Mustang is an already great pony car, however it is an even better vehicle when equipped with Saleen's goodies.

There are several reasons why every gearhead should own a Mustang. One of the main reasons, especially for Mustang owners with deep pockets, is the fact that things like this Saleen package exist. The 4.6L V8 received a VI.5 twin-screw supercharger and dual stage intercooler that brings the car's power to 485 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

8 Super Street

Unlike the previous generation of Mustang, the fifth generation is an absolute monster. The car looks aggressive even stock. When modified, it can be turned into a beast that would give German sports cars something to worry about. This Mustang is the perfect example.

Some people are so used to stumble across modified Mustang GTs that they no longer pay attention to them. Though it is true that customized fifth gen Mustangs are a dime a dozen, it is always pleasant to look at a nicely modded 'Stang. This particular Mustang may not be the craziest car out there, but it sure would be nice to take it for a spin.

7 Track Monster

It is true that the Mustang is a terrific sports car. Since its creation in the mid-60s, the Mustang has been tearing up the track. Whether it is NASCAR, drag racing, or drifting, the Mustang is made to be driven aggressively on a track. This Mustang is the living proof that the car is not just another pony car.

Sal Molinare from Specialty Fabrication and his son built a real beast. The 2006 Mustang's Kenne Bell supercharged 4.6L V8 was stroked to 302 ci, which is one of the reasons why the car is able to zoom down the quarter-mile in 10 seconds. The powerplant develops 700 hp and 677 lb-ft of torque at the crankshaft.

6 Classic Supercharged GT

The Mustang is quite impressive. Despite what people say, even the V6-powered Mustang packs a decent punch. The Mustang GT packs a lot more power, and has far more potential to be tuned to produce an insane amount of power. Consequently, Mustang GT owners with a sizeable disposable income indulge in giving the GT the goodies it deserves.

This San Diego-based Mustang GT was for sale for only $17,000. That is the price of a lukewarm Hyundai with all the bells and whistles. The 4.6L V8 is equipped with a Kenne Bell 2.6L stage 2 supercharger that helps the unit produce 481 hp and 422 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. This somewhat sober Mustang GT would make an awesome daily driver.

5 CF5V

Though Ford greatly improved the Mustang when it designed the fifth generation Mustang, the car is still lacking in the aggressiveness department. However, there is a plethora of aftermarket parts available on the market. Though they are costly, those parts give the Mustang the look and power it deserves.

Is that Mustang GT all show and no go? Well, sort of. The real deal is not located under the hood. The riveted fender flares give the car a very race car-like look. On top of being widened, the 'Stang was fitted with some tastefully chosen 19' Forgestar CF5V SDC. It would have been nice to see this car fitted with enough parts to produce over 650 hp to the wheels.

4 Street Drag

One of the best things to ever come out of America are drag-ready vehicles. For over 50 years, each and every American-made car has at some point been transformed into a 9-second vehicle. Whether they are street-legal or not, they never fail to entertain the public with their deafening growls and aggressive take-offs.

Believe or not, this Mustang can pop some serious wheelies. The parachute is a dead giveaway that the car is powerful, in fact, it's 8.8 second and 164 mph on the quarter-mile kind of powerful. The 5.8L V8 nestled under the hood is complimented with a Kenne Bell 4.7L supercharger.

3 Solid

To most gearheads, Mustangs are truly respectable vehicles. They are mean-looking machines that can be modified to become as fast as a high-end German sports car. Though the Mustang GT is already on par with some of the nicest European sports cars out there, it can become a real Lamborghini killer when customized.

Hoonigan obviously did not modify this Mustang. The company tends to feature much more outrageous and agile vehicles,  such as the 1,000 hp FD Mustang. That being said, this Mustang is a very cool looking daily driver that seems to produce quite a decent amount of power.

2 Roush

Though Shelby is the most popular accredited Ford tuner out there, smaller companies such as Roush have shown that they are far from being irrelevant. The 2020 Jack Roush Edition Mustang boasts an insane 775 hp, which is 15 hp more than a regular 2020 Shelby GT500.

This Roush Stage 3 is quite spectacular. Unlike the previous Roush Mustangs, the car is modified in a subtle manner. Though it is clear it received tons of aesthetic Roush parts, it does not look like completely transformed. Under the hood sits a Roush supercharged 5.0L V8 that cranks out 565 hp.

1 Swapped

The earlier versions of the fifth generation Mustang looks absolutely stunning. The only issue with the GT trim is the engine. The 4.6L V8 produces a fair amount of power, but not enough given what is currently available on the market. However, it is always possible to turn a decent vehicle into something truly mind-blowing.

A 5.0L Coyote V8 was shoehorned under the hood. The 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque produced by the engine were improved upon as the engine was given more modifications, including a Boss 302 intake manifold.
